VOYAGE AUTOUR DE MA CHAMBRE, 2017, ANI SCHULZE & GEORGE RIPPON, CURATED BY OONA-LÉA VON MAYDELL, GALERIE NAGEL DRAXLER, COLOGNE

Voluntary isolation can be used as a period of time dedicated to personal or spiritual retreat, an opportunity to experience new rules and extremes. Recommended to cure a tired soul from the metropolis, the appeal of reclusiveness is paradoxical when publicized; simultaneously functioning as a shelter and a display case. You are dragging yourselves through the mud and the disturbing stream-of-consciousness is asked to be mediatized and explained. Once the right filter is found, rendering the process public could turn sparkling again. Next year we will go in a country where it's sunny and we will forget the sludge.
